A Great Lawn
Growing a healthy and environmentally sound lawn can be accomplished by following our guidelines outlined below.
There are 4 key parts to a good lawn maintenance program:
Fertilizing
Understanding and implementing a well-balanced fertilizer program is one of the most important factors in maintaining an attractive, healthy lawn.
Seeding
A thick, healthy lawn will not leave room for invasive weeds to grow.Overseeding will fill in any bare spots and is best applied in spring or ideally early fall, mid-August to September.
Watering
Established lawns generally need 1 inch of water every week (including rainfall). Water evenly and slowly so that it penetrates the soil without runoff.
Mowing
The importance of good mowing practices is often overlooked but has a major influence on the health and appearance of your lawn. Turf can be mowed frequently, provided that no more than one-third of the grass blade is being removed in a single mowing.
Compaction (ok, we have 5 key parts)
Soil compaction is a problem that naturally occurs under many conditions. To relieve compaction without excessive injury to grass plants, an aerator should be used.
